Wonderful, Kevin. There is so much loving family dynamics in this that only those of us who grew up in the mid-20th century can appreciate. We had rules but we also had love and understanding.
Love this, Kev. Sounds very similar to my household. Probably most. The laughter remnds me of when my own kids were growing up (we had five). My son Josh, the forever jokester, would come out with something so absurd that I would respond with either uncontrollable laughter myself or threaten his life when he "crossed the line" which was pretty much all the time. LOL.
I thnk that's what's missing today in too many ghouseholds - those family supper times. Unforgettable memories that shaped generations. Nowadays, it's grab what you can, when you can and go on about your business. There's no family cohesiveness.
I'm thankful that today, my children carry on the practice of family suppertime with their own families. Somehow, I raised some pretty good kids - Hard working, but fun-loving as well. 😁
It reminds me of an incident that a coworker told me about years ago. My father was the guy in the office who was always arranging the get together events to celebrate someone’s retirement or other milestone. My coworker had also worked with dad years earlier. He and others would meet at our house before going out. On one occasion, he said I was doing somersaults on the couch. Dad started freaking out and yelling but mom very calmly said “Ed, relax, he’s just being a child.”
